Intermental vs Intramental

 

      Every function in the child's cultural development appears twice: first, on the social level, and later on the individual level; first, between people (interpsychological), and then inside the child (intrapsychological). This applies equally to voluntary attention, to logical memory, and to the formation of concepts. All the higher functions originate as actual relations between human individuals (Vygotsky, 1978: 57).

 

 

Scaffolding

 

      Scaffolding theory was first introduced in the late 1950s by Jerome Bruner 

It is a supportive interactions learning environments that guide students study effectively and encourage students to develop to a level above their current level.  It is removable that will gradually and eventually shift the responsibility for learning from the teachers to the students.

 

1)      Metacognitive

         help students review what they already understand

2)      Procedural

         direct students with some tools to demonstrate the process

3)      Strategic

         provide students with alternative methods to approach

4)      Conceptual

         encourage students to further consider.

  • Influence motivation and engagement of students 

  • Easy to track study performance and test results

  • Build a closer relationship  between students and teacher

      The youtube video presents two some free game based apps tutorial for teachers in  ECI 512 Emerging technology. According to my interview, high school students both in the United States and China states that they are expecting more games involved in class. According to my experience, high school was a place in which students are busy on understanding knowledge and social actives that help them apply colleagues. But students said that if teachers related the class with games that could motivate them to study with passion and interest. Apparently, technology is changing our education, beyond our notice.
